Most, but not all, of the photographs a centered on areas of the city that would be affected by a revitalization program called the Core Area Initiatives. No people. It must have taken some patience to achieve that in an urban setting.

The photos are great. I have mixed feelings about my walk down Memory Lane as I realize that I left Winnipeg so long ago (1974) that I only recognize a few locations and others are like a dream I once had. A nice reminder of how things were for those of us whose memories seem to be fading. Thank you Rob.

Aquarius Waterbeds on Portage Avenue. That was the first of four stores in Winterpeg and one in Thunder Bay. I had forgotten how huge those signs were. That was a converted bank building – still had the safe inside. I left Winnipeg many years ago and never returned. People I knew there have mostly left and those still there tell me of drugs and gangs.
